Skywarden does not sell insurance or decide whether a policy is suitable. The checklist below helps you ask an authorised insurer the right questions.
Core cover to discuss
- Trip cancellation, postponement and curtailment, including supplier insolvency where available.
- Emergency medical treatment with limits appropriate to private hospitals and remote travel.
- Medical evacuation by road or air and repatriation to your home country.
- Missed connections, delayed baggage, lost documents and personal belongings.
- Activities in your itinerary, including trekking, boating, ballooning, horseback riding or hiking at altitude.
- Pre-existing medical conditions and age-related exclusions.
Evacuation is not the same as insurance
A local evacuation membership may transport you to an appropriate regional facility, but it may not pay hospital bills, international repatriation, trip cancellation or a companion’s expenses. Ask precisely where evacuation ends and insurance begins.
What to carry
Keep the insurer’s 24-hour assistance number, policy number, declared medical conditions and emergency procedure available offline. Share a copy with a trusted contact and with Skywarden when requested for operational support.
Claims and documents
Contact the insurer promptly and follow its authorisation process. Keep medical reports, police reports, delay confirmations, invoices and receipts. Skywarden will provide reasonable booking records under our control but cannot approve a claim on an insurer’s behalf.
Insurance wording varies materially. Do not rely on a credit-card benefit or evacuation membership without reading its limits, exclusions and geographic scope.
